Learning to golf? Here are some great golf club, ladies attire, and other items to add to your wish list.

My 2022 Wish List for Beginner Golf: Golf Attire, Gear and Must-Haves on My List

When I started writing this blog, I wanted it to be a way to share what I was learning as I was learning. My Google searches didn’t always turn up the most helpful information. It’s been a real experience, and I’m happy every time I receive feedback that what I’ve posted has helped someone else!

So, what’s the downside? I’m paying more attention to the golf apparel, gear and knickknacks out there, and my wish list is growing by the day! I’ve put together a list of the top items on my wishlist – do any line up with what you’ve been looking at too?

Ping HooferLite Golf Bag

When I first saw this bag, I thought it was too loud, but I haven’t been able to get it out of my mind! Last year, when building up my first set of golf clubs and choosing a bag, I went for a solid budget option – the Cobra Sunday bag. But in my research, I came across the Ping Hoofer Lite, and would have bought it, if it weren’t $100 more than what I ultimately wound up with. The more I play, the more I see women with this bag – it’s nicely sized, weighs only 5 pounds (!!), has 7 pockets and a valuables pouch, and you can either wear it on your back with two straps or convert to a single strap. It is well reviewed, and is a frequent choice for collegiate teams. I can see myself on the course with this – it’s definitely at the top of my wish list this year.

Callaway Hightail Cap

I always wear a hat on the golf course – mostly for sun protection. I usually wear a traditional baseball hat and find a way to put my hair up in a ponytail or a bun through the hole at the back of the hat. I just saw this Callaway Hightail cap on another lady at the course and was very jealous. It looks just like the hats I wear, but is designed for a higher ponytail or bun through the expanded, adjustable hole in the back. I especially love that the branding is not too loud – I don’t mind a low-profile logo, but I don’t like to be a walking advertisement. The hat is also made out of moisture-wicking fabric – I didn’t even know hats were made out of this material until recently. So much cooler than the cotton baseball hats I usually wear.

FootJoy Ladies’ Golf Shoes

I came across these recently when I was writing a post about great brands of ladies’ golf shoes. I knew FootJoy had great options, but hadn’t come across this particular pair – the Flex XP. I think the light pink (officially Mauve according to FootJoy) would wind up going with so many different colors, and they just look so comfortable and stylish.

I’d be super happy to have a pair of sneakers like this for off the golf course, too. These may already be saved in my online cart . . . getting closer to pressing that ‘check out’ button by the minute!

Chrome Soft Shamrock Golf Balls

Somehow I’ve got a golf ball that looks just like this in my golf bag. I never use it for fear of losing it – I’m still at the point where I’m losing at least a ball or two each round. I love the way it looks though, so I found myself looking for more online. Callaway’s Chrome Soft Shamrock Golf Balls are calling my name, but I’m afraid that I can’t make this kind of investment for balls I’m going to lose. I did find an option on a used golf ball site – LostGolfBalls – that is called the ‘high visibility set’ and may include some of these, so that’s a more likely purchase this season. I’ll still keep these on my wishlist for when I’m a better golfer!

Kalea Golf Club Set

I referenced these in another post, but I just love the look and feel of this TaylorMade Kalea ladies’ golf club set. When I was putting my set of clubs together (mostly pieced together from Ebay and used equipment stores/sites), I came across this set. Since then, a friend and sometimes golf partner received these as a milestone birthday gift, and I’ve been able to try them out. They feel comfortable, hit well, and look fantastic – especially the black and violet. This purchase is probably still a while out yet, but this set is still near the top of my list.

Callaway Women’s Golf Dress

Golf dresses are my absolute favorite outfit to wear at the range and on the course. They are comfortable, easy to wear, and stylish. I especially love this Callaway polo dress. It comes with shorts to wear underneath (all golf dresses do – or should) which is something I didn’t realize when I bought my first one. I’ll keep an eye on this through the seasonal sales this summer and hope to add it to my wardrobe. If you have your eye on anything similar, drop a link below and I’ll check it out!

Golf Stroke Counter – Shades of Purple – from Etsy

This was on my wish list for a while, but to be totally honest, I have to admit, I just bought this. I love it! You put this around the velcro piece of your golf glove, and move the beads as you make each stroke on a hole. This is supposed to help you keep track of your strokes – which, for me, is important because I have a long way to improve and usually take so many strokes on a hole that it’s hard to remember! I found this on Etsy at the HelloBirdies boutique – there are all different colors and styles to choose from, and at $6, the price is right!

So, What’s On Your List?

Do any of these items line up with your wish list? I’m holding off on buying for now – I’d rather spend my money on rounds of golf at the moment – but I’ll be keeping my eye out for seasonal sales and deals. And I’ll probably be adding more to my wishlist! See anything you’ve got and love or hate? Let me know in the comments below.
