Best Women’s Golf Shoes: Top 5 Brands for Beginner Women Golfers to Consider

Once you’ve been on the course a few times, you may start thinking about investing in some golf attire – but where should you start?

I started golfing in workout clothes and my favorite Nike sneakers. But after showing up for ladies’ clinic at my local course for a couple of months, I knew I’d want to be out on the course, and I wanted to have a pair of golf shoes.

I wanted to make sure they’d be comfortable – For a round of 18 holes, you’re out on the course between 3 and 4 hours, and you don’t want to find out mid-round that they don’t fit.

I didn’t even know – do comfortable women’s golf shoes exist? I did my research and found some great ideas – sharing those here with you today, in case you’re looking for women’s golf shoes too.

Choosing Women’s Golf Shoes: How to Start

I looked at the women’s shoes at the golf course’s pro shop, which weren’t really my style or price range. There was only a small range of shoes, and they were expensive. I asked the pros about what’ they’d recommend for the best women’s golf shoes to start with, and they said I should stick with what was comfortable, and that most sneaker brands offered women’s golf shoes as well.

I wanted an athletic-looking pair that wouldn’t cost me more than $100. As a beginner golfer, I needed to start small, just in case I didn’t get as much use out of them as I planned. I started searching online, and found a lot of great options.

You could also go in-person to a place like Dick’s Sporting Goods, or Golf Galaxy if you have one near you. I was pressed for time, so I took the shortcut of shopping from home. I learned about Global Golf from a friend at the course, and looked there along with some other favorite shoe shopping sites. I’m a huge Zappos fan, and I knew that I’d be able to get a pair within a day or two if they happened to have golf shoes in stock.

Try Online: Wide Selection and Quick Turnaround

I was in luck! Zappos has a wide selection of golf shoes for women. I decided to go with Zappos since I was familiar with them – however, looking back, I realize there was a larger variety on Global Golf, and they have similarly quick shipping. They also have a huge selection of discounted golf shoes – all I wanted was something stylish and comfortable, I didn’t need the latest version. If you’re the same, you might find some good deals there. I highly recommend looking at both sites as you figure out what works best for you.

Finally, I also found some great shows at Callaway. I already have a wish list going for my next pair, when I’m ready to invest some more – GFore and Cole Haan are both brands with nice-looking shoes at higher prices that I’m wanting to try.

Start with What You Know: Favorite Brands

So, where to start? I went with the athletic brands that I know I already like. Nike and Adidas both make sneakers that I choose again and again. As I started searching, I came across a few brands that would be a great starting point for any beginner woman golfer looking to make her first golf shoe purchase. Check out my list below.

1. Nike Golf Shoes for Women

Nike is a solid brand that has a lot of different options for women’s golf shoes. In my experience, Nikes run true to size to narrow – which works well for me, but may not work so well for others. I found that the Nike Roshe G shoe was a great option – it looked just like the sneaker I was wearing on the course, came in different colors (I chose ‘platinum’ – or light grey), was under $100, and felt just as comfortable as any Nike running shoes as I’d had before.

2. Adidas Golf Shoes for Women

Just like Nike, Adidas has a number of golf shoes available for women golfers. Many of them also look like the same type of sneakers you’d pick for running or the gym. The Summervent Spikeless Golf Shoes are also under $100, come in great colors (I’d choose the Wonder Mauve/Magic Grey combo pictured here), and get great reviews – another solid choice.

3. Puma Golf Shoes for Women

Pumas were all I wanted to wear in high school. I didn’t even know they made golf shoes (clearly, I’m a beginner) until I spied a pair on another woman at the ladies’ clinic. They offer many options, but my favorite are these sleek, breathable Women’s Monolite Cat EM Golf Shoes. I’d pick the Black/Rose combo – that’s what the pair I saw were, and they were gorgeous. These are priced even lower than the previous two pairs, at just under $70.

4. Skechers Golf Shoes for Women

I haven’t worn Skechers in many years – they were certainly very popular way back in the day when I was in high school. I know a lot of women today who love them – especially for jobs where you’re on your feet all day – Skechers are known for having supportive, comfortable shoes and I know many nurses who swear by them. 5. FootJoy Golf Shoes for Women

Being a brand-new beginner woman golfer, I was not at all familiar with golf-specific brands. I first saw FootJoys on our golf instructor, and admired them, but had no idea what brand they were. When I was browsing one of the discount golf websites, I saw a whole array of FootJoy shoes for ladies. I love how simple they are, the many color combinations, and it was easy to find a good deal on them. They are another shoe that get great reviews, and are next on my list when I buy my next pair. I’d choose the Footjoy Flex XP in Mauve.

Where Else Can You Find the Best Golf Shoes for Women?

I mentioned it before, but I’ve been a long-time fan of Zappos – if you sign up for a VIP account (which is free), you can often get 1-day shipping on your shoes. I’ve shopped there for years, but mostly for work shoes and athletic sneakers – I didn’t know they offered so many options of women’s golf shoes (200+ pairs when I checked again in March 2023), but honestly I’m not surprised. Returns are free and easy, and Zappos has really great user reviews as well, which always helps me figure out what I’d like to try.

You can also check out Zappos’ sister site 6PM – which sells deeply discounted shoes, and to my surprise, had a decent inventory of ladies golf shoes last time I looked.

Global Golf, while new to me, turned out to have a huge variety of women’s golf shoes, and many of the “past season” pairs were marked down more than I found on other sites. I will definitely keep my eye on their site when I expand my collection.

Once You Get Them, Make Sure to Use Them!

Once you get your shoes, make sure to break them in – I wore mine around the house for a couple of days to make sure I liked how they fit before taking them outside. Then I tried them out a the driving range, and by the time I needed them for my first round of golf, they were pretty well-broken in.

I’ve worn them countless times since, and I have nothing to complain about – they are super comfortable and durable, and I expect them to last me quite a while.
